Military-Affiliated Students and the EMBA Program

The UConn EMBA proudly welcomes military-affiliated students, including Veterans, Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard, and their families. The UConn School of Business is ranked #8 nationally for veterans. Over time, members of all branches of the Armed Forces have leveraged the UConn EMBA experience to advance within the ranks and successfully transition to the civilian workforce. The EMBA program works closely with the UConn Office of Military and Veterans Programs to support our students and the use of their benefit packages for educational purposes.
Veteran EMBA Alumni Experiences

Nick Nevers, Alum 2025, General Manager, Cape Cod Fence.
“The Marine Corps taught me how to lead people, build cohesive teams, and act decisively under pressure. The UConn EMBA program has enabled me to translate these leadership skills into the business world, providing me with the tools to confidently manage a P&L, drive results, and lead teams with a clear vision.”

Vanessa Lartey-Young, 2025 Alum, Outage Planning Specialist, Electric Operations and Support, Eversource Energy.
“The UConn EMBA program has helped me channel the discipline and resilience from my military experience into strategic leadership, both in the utilities sector as an electrical engineer and in shaping my entrepreneurial vision. It’s expanded how I think, lead, and create impact.”

Radu Nedelcu, Alum 2025, Owner, Mr. HandyMan
“The UConn EMBA program has been a catalyst for my personal and professional growth. It deepened the leadership principles I learned during my Special Forces career and challenged me to think critically, lead strategically, and grow as an entrepreneur. For veterans looking to evolve and lead in business, this program is a game changer.”

Ilyas Babar, Alum 2025, Managing Director, Business Health & Transformation, Travelers.
My transition from military to civilian life was a bit challenging. After a decade of working, I enrolled in the UConn Executive MBA program. It was a turning point for me. The program and my fellow students gave me a sense of community—something I had missed since leaving the military. The EMBA program offered the flexibility I needed to balance a demanding job, academic responsibilities, and my personal life, and the perspective and tools necessary to “rank up” in my civilian career.
