The Executive Management Project is the capstone of the Executive MBA degree. In a two- module sequence, student teams bring their learnings and experiences to identify and evaluate a business opportunity and/or challenge. Using a comprehensive assessment framework, the student teams engage in idea generation, product/service definition, assessments of customers and competition, and do the financial analysis needed to assess sustainability and profitability.

An Over-the-Counter Solution for POTS
Shailendra Upadhyay, M.D.,
Nicholas Jarufe,
Dennis Panagiotakopoulos,
and Marcel Niederer
"The Executive Management Project empowered our team to address the rising prevalence of Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome - a condition with increasing visibility since the COVID-19 pandemic and limited targeted solutions. Leveraging our interdisciplinary business training, we advanced a clinically informed, over-the-counter hydration supplement tailored to meet the unique physiological needs of POTS patients. Through a structured, evidence-based approach, we conducted market validation via patient and physician surveys, projected demand and pricing, evaluated direct-to-consumer strategies, and built a robust financial model. We collaborated with experts across cardiology and emergency medicine to ensure scientific and commercial viability. This capstone was more than an academic exercise—it was a meaningful opportunity to channel our learning into a scalable product that could transform care delivery and improve quality of life for a vulnerable, often overlooked population."
